Platform P51 in Brazil
This is the first large order for Brazil, worth 8-10 million kroner, where a Rapp subsidiary – Rapp Bomek Brasil Indústria e Comércio LTDA – has been set up to meet the government’s demand for greater local sourcing.
The P51 is a production platform that belongs to Petrobras (Petróleo Brasileiro S/A). Two of these new platforms, which are among the largest semi-submersibles in the world, are under construction. The sister rig is called P-52 and both follow the design concept applied to Snorre B, says Marketing Manager Jostein Johansen.
He can report that Brazil is a highly exciting venue where many projects are coming to the fore. Government-owned Petrobras is highly motivated to secure local content, and for that reason Rapp Bomek is engaged in licensed production through a subsidiary, Rapp Bomek Brasil Indùstria e Comercioo LTDA. Petrobras has 103 production platforms and offices in 27 countries. Getting this order is quite a thrill since we have been eyeing the Brazilian market for a long time and its glorious to see our efforts have been crowned with success. Its a positive market for us, Johansen affirms.
